New Horizons for 2018 as Olli Caldwell prepares for F4 European Challenge

Olli Caldwell will be preparing for new challenges next season

British F4 & UAE F4
December 27, 2017

The worlds youngest ever FIA Formula 4 racer Olli Caldwell
is to end his 4 year relationship with Arden Motorsport and its Young Driver Programme as he changes tack with plans to compete in European F4 in the 2018 Season.

After a lot of consideration for 2018, the decision was made to focus Olli’s campaign in Europe for next season as the majority of the circuits used in European F4 will be featured heavily as he develops through the Junior Single-Seater Formula Categories of F4, FIA Formula 3 and further.

As a consequence of this dedicated European F4 Campaign, Olli will sadly not be competing in the British F4 Championship in 2018. It was a choice that was very hard to make, especially after enjoying great experiences in the championship and with the Arden Motorsport team with whom he enjoyed plenty of success.

Caldwell managed to take home multiple Ford F4 Challenge Cup Podiums and Victories with Arden this season narrowly missing 3rd in the challenge cup despite starting less races than his competitors with him only able to make his singe-seater debut with them at the Croft Circuit in June, on the weekend of his 15th birthday.

“I am very excited to be competing in Europe next season and also to be competing in a full championship for once. 2016 & 2017 were both half year campaigns in Ginetta Juniors and British F4, therefore to do a full championship year will put me on a level footing with my competitors. I learnt a lot about the Tatuus F4 car last year, after taking numerous Rookie Podiums in those selected Italian and ADAC F4 rounds I competed in with Muecke Motorsport.

It was very difficult decision to not be with Arden Motorsport in 2018 as I have worked with them and the YRDA since I was in cadet karting and it has really helped develop me as a driver and a person. I wish Garry Horner and all the team the best of luck for 2018! In everything they do as they are a fantastic team.

Olli prepared for next year by competing in the opening rounds of the UAE F4 Championship with the Silber Pfeil Energy Dubai Racing Team. The talented young Brit took two podiums and a victory in the opening four races at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, closing out a very busy and strong maiden season of single-seater racing on a high note.

Olli will be testing ahead of the new season with two teams, with a confirmed announcement on his commitments for 2018 to be made in the coming weeks.

Additionally, there are potential plans in place for various FIA F3 testing outings throughout the season. This is in preparation for the 2019 season – ensuring Olli is ready for the increased power and aerodynamic influence from the F3 cars, on his next steps up the ladder towards Formula One.

Olli would like to give all his fans, supporters and partners a big thank you for all their support this season - See you in 2018!
