British racing driver and Alpine Academy star Olli Caldwell proudly joins the squad at Algarve Pro Racing, where he will tackle his sophomore season in the European Le Mans Series with the 2023 championship winning team. With a year of LMP2 experience in both World Endurance Championship and European Le Mans Series, the 21-year-old will also race in the Algarve Pro Racing entry at the 92nd running of 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Olli Caldwell took the step up from his successful junior career to making his debut in the fast-paced and highly competitive world of endurance racing in 2023, completing a dual campaign in WEC and ELMS. The season saw Olli make his ELMS podium debut at Le Castellet and enjoy a solid performance in his first taste of racing at 24 Hours of Le Mans. Having gained a raft of experience and showcasing true determination and fortitude across his rookie season, the British driver looks forward to hitting the ground running in 2024 as part of a strong and competitive driver line-up aboard the #25 Oreca-Gibson LMP2 machine.
The Algarve Pro Racing team are no strangers to success having sealed Asian Le Mans Series titles, a Le Mans LMP2 Pro/Am class win and an IMSA Endurance Cup title. Before being crowned the ELMS teams and drivers champions in 2023, following a strong campaign of 2 race wins and 3 podiums which earned the Albufeira-based squad an invitational entry to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024.
“I’m really excited to be joining Algarve Pro Racing for the upcoming season, I met and tested with the team some time ago and it’s nice to be joining them for my second full season in the European Le Mans Series, especially as they’re reigning Champions. The title-winning status means we will go into 2024 on a strong, positive footing and I’m confident in our line-up because Matthias (Kaiser) did a good, faultless job in this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship and Alex (Lynn) is a well-established and successful driver who has a lot of experience with factory teams and a fairly long history in endurance racing. I’m still early in my career and I know I can learn a lot from him. I’m aware of many of the driver combinations within what is a record-breaking LMP2 entry and I’m genuinely excited about the prospect of taking on a full grid of cars with the sole aim of defending Algarve Pro’s championship titles.”
Olli Caldwell is hard at work preparing for 2024 before the season kicks off with testing in Barcelona on 9th April.
